i don't know what your thesis feels like from the inside, but i know you've been carrying something heavy and still showing up for everyone else. that's a lot for one person. you make it look easy, and it really isn't.

i just wanted you to hear this from someone who isn't your advisor and isn't grading you. the work is hard, but you're not failing at it. you're in the middle part, the part where it looks like nothing is happening. it's still happening. i've watched you get through harder things than this.

and on the days when it isn't happening, you don't have to turn yourself into a project. close the laptop if you want to. go quiet for a while. take the whole evening and don't explain it to anybody. i'll still be here when you come back.

also, i like the earrings. all of them. i like that you have a whole collection and still treat picking a pair like it's a small event. and i like your voice more than i've probably said out loud.
